CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPES

“On the Map”, a series of paintings celebrating the Scottish landscape.

Each Painting in the “On the Map” series of limited edition prints takes as its starting point a place indicated on the map. The painting is developed sensitively, using semi-transparent glazes to ensure that plenty of the original map is still visible, but a recognisable landscape emerges. Each limited edition fine art Giclee print of the original paintings has been made using Studio Expression Smooth 100% cotton paper (300 gsm). The "Coastal Collection" is a group of acrylic paintings inspired by the coastlands of Scotland.

Whether it is the rugged cliffs, the stormy seas or the calm and brooding waters and the distant horizons, each of these paintings remind us of the sea’s hold on our imaginations. They are currently painted on 20 x 20cm wooden panels and can be purchased unframed but ready to hang with a painted border (a very affordable option) or cradled in a tray (float) frame. Frames are usually painted white but buyers can request an alternative colour (this would incur additional cost).

MEET THE ARTIST

I am a landscape artist based on the East Lothian coast in Scotland. My artwork, in its various forms, always involves an emotional response to places, both familiar and imagined. I am repeatedly drawn to explore the wide open spaces of the coast and the mountains of Scotland. I like to capture the mood and atmosphere – and sometimes the drama and majesty – of wild places.
